From handwrapped wontons to aromatic Tom Yum soup, every dish is a crafted experience that celebrates the essence of Asian culinary traditions. The reviews from patrons reflect a shared sentiment: delightful and delicious, with a hint of culinary nostalgia.
Customers have noted the friendly and prompt service, giving one a feeling of being welcomed like family. A lovely touch is that the restaurant returns to its roots, as many patrons are familiar with the founders who were previously behind the beloved Eastern City. The essence of comfort food is alive here, as one reviewer mentioned their fondness for the black bean chicken, claiming it to be the best they've ever had.

“ Came here as it was suggested by a coworker. Was told that the owners are the former owners of Eastern City in Orleans from back in the day. I had the black bean chicken which was probably the best black bean I’ve ever had! Hubby had the combo plate with Szechuan beef which was fantastic. I could be mistaken but I believe they use MSG in their menu items so if you have a sensitivity to this you may want to ask and confirm. We will be doing this the next time ! ”
“ Very diverse cuisine, everything I tried was delicious. Some were very different from what I'm used to, but hey, it's fusion. The best meal I've had in a long time is the beef salad. ”
“ A great find! Our regular spot sadly did not survive the pandemic, and we had been trying to find somewhere new to enjoy our chicken pad Thai. OpenRice is our new favourite! It's a beautifully decorated space. The service was quick and friendly, but not chatty, which we much prefer. We ordered the spring rolls and calamari to start, and both portions could easily have been my whole meal. The chicken pad thai was excellent, and the portion will feed us for work lunches for the next two days... well, for me anyway. ”
“ Tried their specials and wow—the lobsters are the best I’ve ever had! Fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The five spice duck is also amazing. Definitely worth coming back for. Highly recommend if you’re a seafood or duck lover! ”
“ A delicious Chinese restaurant with great wok-style stir-fries, especially this minced pork and eggplant dish. The Chinese menu has fun names too. We brought up our reservation for the coconut chicken, and the coconut in the bottom of the pot with the fresh chicken was sweet and savory. The dipping sauce could be improved. Plenty of room to dine and will be back for more. ”
“ Prior to the change in ownership, I have always enjoyed having lunch there. I love the bibimbap, lemongrass brussel sprouts and their quick lunch menu. Since the change, they have expanded their menu to many authentic regional Chinese dishes. We tried some. Loved everything. The flavors are unique. The four season beans and Singaporean vermicelli are the best in town. I would say it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Ottawa. ”
“ Went in during the heat wave to order a mango milk tea with extra boba & extra fruit jelly — the customer service was amazing the lady who served me was so kind & gentle. Keep it up! (PS I did have a few sips from my milk tea before taking the photo) ”
“ Nice environment, decent food taste. A lot of options. Will come again. ”
